This essence urges the mage to achieve something vital but which is hard to define. That could include creating something, discovering something or accomplishing something. This is an ultimate goal for the mage’s life & may never be achieved. For those who agree mages reincarnate, Questing mages will make progress during the current incarnation towards a goal achieved in their final incarnation. Like Dynamic mages, Questing mages have a restless nature but they are directed towards uncovering & pursuing one goal, rather than a succession of goals.
Starting on pg. 115 of 2nd Ed core this Essence was about balancing the other Essences. That is when it was associated with the Council of Nine. Pg. 95 of Revised Ed core states it is both balance & important goals. This description isn’t satisfying as it is hard to differentiate it from Dynamic Essence.
