Chapter 2 Ascension - Control has disembodied in a special way. They disappeared and exist now as one invisible will that still communicates with Earth.
Less knowledgeable Technocrats believe the Consensus was created by Sleepers. They believe they are defending the world the Sleepers want.
The Technocracy wants their members to think of themselves as Technocrats instead of members of their Convention. To encourage this, all new recruits are trained together in a common school. They train away from where they will be assigned and with people they won’t be working with after they join their Convention.
An ideological faction hidden in Technocracy leadership believes Ascension is real but harmful to humanity. They believe Ascension is a mystical, supernatural event that would take many people (mages & non-mages) out of the universe, possibly killing them. Not only that, but the people prone to this influence are intelligent, open-minded people. Ascension would rob humanity of its best leading to a severe dark age.
The grand goal of the Technocracy is not to create utopia for the Masses but to modify humanity to live in a utopia. That’s what their secret experiments are actually focusing on. They believe there is no fixed human nature. Human nature is malleable.
