East Asian Technocracy
Dalou' laoshi (5 Element Dragons) first mentioned in history chapter of Storytellers Companion (Revised Ed.). East Asian Technocracy group.
Dragons of the East, pg. 103 - 5 Metal Dragons is name for all of Technocracy or specifically the Western Technocracy. 5 Elemental Dragons is 5 groups of East Asian Technocracy that keep secrets from the larger Technocracy.
- Zi Guang (Temple of the Eternal Mountain) - wood. China. Specializing in the Life Sphere, these Technomancers claim credit for teaching Sleepers to properly cultivate rice. Originally focused on geomancy, they used their Life arts to evaluate chi in humans & determine the state of local chi flows. In time, they focused on humans more with 2 results. Some worked to strengthen & perfect the human body. Others focused on perfecting government. The Zi Guang are involved with the Chinese government & see it as their preferred tool. Many Zi Guang are fascinated by Progenitor technology. They are among the more conservative of the Elemental Dragons but have members that seek innovation in government & biotech. Technocracy Reloaded links them to the color green & the Progenitors.
- Saensaeng (Court of the Chrysanthemums) - earth. South Korea. Specializing in the Forces Sphere. They began at the Japanese imperial court in the early 8th century. They were closely involved in the Meiji Restoration but relocated to South Korea after World War II. Most members claim royal or noble blood. More than half of them are still in South Korea but some operate in Japan & encourage a full restoration of the Japanese emperor. This group places great importance on warrior & artistic pursuits, seeing them as 2 sides of the same coin. They are very traditional & conservative in their outlook. Technocracy Reloaded links them to the color yellow & the New World Order.
- Miao Guan (Temple of the Eternal Harmonies) - spirit. China. The most feared Elemental Dragons specialize in the Mind Sphere. Not through psychology as the NWO does, but through traditional Chinese methods such as internal alchemy, breathing techniques, herbs, etc. They are very conservative in their thinking & habits. They believe peace & order must be maintained at all costs, even if the people lose free will. Technocracy Reloaded removes them.
- Taiping Tianguo (Temple of Heavenly Peace) - water. Taiwan. Specializing in the Entropy Sphere, this group has a different outlook than the other Elemental Dragons. Their involvement with Entropy over the years has lead them to embrace antinomian practices (mentioned in the Order of Hermes Tradition book, gaining insight from doing the opposite of what one thinks is right or orthodox). Most Elemental Dragons shun chaos to encourage order but the Taiping Tianguo seek a kind of order within chaos. Agents of this group engage in wild behavior & are no strangers to vice. At times they engage in immoral or destructive activities to better understand the world. Members of this group take risks often believing they will either reap a great reward or learn more about the intricacies of chi when something goes wrong. They are one of the progressive, modern groups within the Elemental Dragons. They are involved in business & high technology. They enjoy complex systems of any kind. More than any other group, these agents move all about Asia. Technocracy Reloaded links them to the color black & the Syndicate.
- Zaibatsu (Court of the Plum Blossoms) - fire. Japan. Specializing in Matter, these Technocrats are the most modern in their thinking. They focus on high technology & big business. They believe eliminating supernatural threats, including other mage groups, is very high priority. Many members are descended from Japanese families that had the lowest social status in past centuries & change their names to hide the fact. They are a funder & supplier of Strike Force Zero. This group has more contacts & commerce with the Western Technocracy than the other Elemental Dragons. Technocracy Reloaded links them to the color red & the Void Engineers.
Metal - nobody. Technocracy Reloaded links them to the color white & Iteration X.
NOTE: This was revised on pg. 88 of Technocracy Reloaded.
