A force of nature that reinforces the Consensus by disrupting magick or visiting consequences on those who caused it. Thought to occur when the reality of Sleepers conflicts with the reality a mage imposes on the universe.
Paradox was originally a part of the Cosmic Weirdness of Mage. Mages weren’t limited to Sleeper perceptions because they lived outside of the Sleeper world. Paradox flaws could cause weird things to happen because reality correcting itself was experienced by mages, not Sleepers. Paradox flaws were showing aspects of reality behind the scenes. Mages could see that reality was stranger than Sleepers think it is. Revised Edition wanted to make Paradox more normal by just having it cause physical damage to mages. Mage20 core (top of pg. 374) states Paradox flaws are only wild when they’re making big corrections.
